Christians Don't Get a Day Off

I have teamed up with Daughter of Delight to write a devotional once each week. It will appear first on Daughter of Delight and Instagram, but I will also post them here.

When I was in college, I did not take enough time to absorb wisdom and therefore, I had nothing to offer others. I was too busy collecting friends and having a good time.

I quickly learned how much more I have to pour into myself in order to be able to pour into someone else's life. I wasn’t taking the time to read my Bible, memorize Scripture, read devotionals, or learn anything new, and I was empty.

As Christians, we are called to be leaders wherever we're at. No, you don't have to lead a huge movement or even a small group.

But as a Christian, you're called to lead others to Christ.

Leaders have to be ready at all times so whenever they have a chance to speak truth into someone's life, they don’t miss it. The only way to be ready is to constantly pour wisdom and righteousness into your own life so you can be full enough to pour into someone else’s life.

Christians don’t get a day off. We don’t get to take a vacation from our vocation as Christians.

So make sure you’re taking the time to fill up your soul with Christ and His word so you can be a vessel, poured out for the sake of Christ.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. -2 Timothy 2:21
